On 31 January 2022, the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care announced that the government was reviewing its position on requiring Covid-19 vaccination as a condition of deployment in care homes (which had become mandatory in November 2021) and wider health and social care settings (which was due to come into effect from April 2022). A consultation was held from 9 to 16 February 2022, with over 90,000 responses submitted. The overwhelming majority of respondents (over 90%) supported revoking vaccination as a condition of deployment and the government has now confirmed it will do so. This means that there will be no national Covid-19 vaccine mandates in the UK.
