In June and July 2026, France’s tax administration, the Direction générale des Finances publiques (DGFiP), suffered a series of unauthorised accesses to its information systems involving compromised credentials belonging to a DGFiP employee and an authorised third party. By mid-August, French authorities had confirmed that approximately 678,000 individuals and professionals had potentially been affected across several separate data exposures.
