In response to delays in Irish Residence Permit renewals, Ireland has introduced an interim Notice to Employers. Some renewal categories are experiencing processing times exceeding 17 weeks at Dublin’s Burgh Quay office. This temporary measure, which will be in place until August 31, 2026, allows certain employees to continue living and working under their current permits if they filed for renewal on time and uploaded the required evidence.

This serves as a reminder to employers that delays in processing physical documents can create real compliance uncertainty, even when the underlying immigration position remains defensible. Right-to-work policies must recognize pending renewals, filing receipts, approval emails, and internal evidence retention.

The key point is this: Immigration compliance does not end with visa approval. It includes document validity, renewal timing, internal HR records, and the ability to prove that a worker remains authorized during administrative delays.
